Metro Cruise PIT STOP sites

 There are more ways than ever to enjoy your favorite auto event.  These sites are all unique, but will each have one or more auto-related entertainment features, have some great local food, and offer easy access.

Each PIT STOP site will host a minimum of 4 key features – car club(s), food vendors, free 2hr collector car parking, and unique auto-related entertainment features.  Each site will be completely unique in its offerings, and many people visit them all.  They are all open to the public with space for free general parking and collector car parking.  If you have a collector car and are cruisin’ 28th Street, look for the Collector Car Parking Only section at each site.  Scroll down to learn what each Pit Stop site will entail, and the different sites we’re hosting this year.

Hope Network’s Metro Cruise PIT STOP at Friendship Park

Visit this brand new, beautiful site in Cascade!  This event will be in the new Friendship Park, which is right in front of the Cascade KDL Library, on the south side of 28th Street.  This event is underwritten by the Cascade DDA, and is co-managed with Hope Network of West Michigan.  Hope Network will have lots of materials and information about local health and wellness programs. (ADDRESS: 2870 Jacksmith Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI)

CAR CLUBS:

• FREE parking along Jacksmith Ave for any collector car/truck

FOOD UNITS:

• Cruisin’ the Street Sweets (Ice cream, flavorburst, sundaes, pretzels, floats, waffles, drinks)
• Balls Dogs (hot dogs, chili dogs, all the toppings)
• 1 more, TBD!

ENTERTAINMENT:

• HEALTH & WELLNESS EXHIBITS – come visit Hope Network, AND their other area health partners:
  • Center for Autism
  • Suicide Awareness – QPR Training
  • Michigan Veterans Affairs
  • Family Outreach Center
  • Dog Training Elite (therapy dogs)

• INFLATABLE – kids will love the 20′ Palm Tree bounce house with slide.
• GAMES AND FUN –  Face painting by Hope Network, Giant Connect 4, Ladder Ball, Bag Toss, and more.

 

Metro Cruise PIT STOP at SHERATON Grand Rapids

Also the site of one of our Official hotel partners (they’re offering King-size rooms for just $119/night, BOOK HERE!), this site will be packed with fun at a great location.  It will feature the fanciest cars of any Metro Cruise site, fire trucks, and some great local food.

This event will be on the west end of the Sheraton property, on the southeast corner of 28th Street & Foremost Drive. (ADDRESS: 5700 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI).

ENTERTAINMENT:

• EXOTIC & LUXURY CAR DISPLAY – come view a unique collection of 15 high-end cars, courtesy of Fresh Coast Auto Detail.
• DRIFT CAR DISPLAY – 15 custom drift cars in an oval arrangement, courtesy of AutoMODIFIED.
• FIRE TRUCKS – Come see rare, retired, antique fire equipment, and a water cannon demonstration.
• INFLATABLE – Super-sized 20’x20′ American XL Bounce House.
• ON SITE RADIO BROADCAST – 97 LAV will be broadcasting live from 10AM – 12PM, and they’ll have a prize wheel with lots of awesome gifts: CD’s, Blu-rays, shirts, concert tickets!

 

Metro Cruise PIT STOP at Oakestown-Borgman

Our longest-running PIT STOP site!  This is a shared site – on the east side of the Borgman Ford property, and the west half of the Oakestown Mall property – on the south side of 28th Street. (ADDRESS: 3000 28th Street SW, Grandville)

CAR CLUBS:

• West Michigan Mustang Club – the largest single-club gathering of any of our event sites, 150 mustangs in one spot

FOOD UNITS:

• Sober Eats Food Truck (Burgers, tacos, BBQ, nachos, and more)
• Sip Shack (N/A dirty sodas, lemonades and energy drinks)
• Antojitos el Toro (crepes, mini pancakes, fruit cups, street corn, fresas con crema)
• Aloha Hawaiian Shave Ice (22 flavor of Hawaiian-style shave ice)

ENTERTAINMENT:

• MUSTANGS – the largest single-club gathering of any of our event sites, 150 Mustangs in one spot.
• ALL HORNED UP – 1974 Dodge Bighorn race truck.
• MEGA TRUCKS – two trucks on 44″ tires, by Todd Gilliland.
• KIDS ENTERTAINMENT – ladder ball, bag toss, Giant Connect 4, kids coloring area, and fairy hair and feather extensions courtesy of A New Image Salon.

 

Metro Cruise PIT STOP at Cascade Village

The site of the Thursday night before Metro Cruise event called the ‘Warm Up’, we will re-open this site on Saturday.  Located at the very end of 28th Street, this is an excellent spot to stop, take a break, and head back west. (ADDRESS: 6797 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546)

CAR CLUBS:

• Collector Car parking – open to any and all collector cars!  First-come, first-served, no fees or reservations

FOOD UNITS:

• Briggs Grill Shack (Rib tips, pulled pork, chili cheese, turkey, hot dogs, burgers)
• GringoDogs (Artisanal hot dog stand made with locally sourced, all-beef hotdogs)
• Ice Queens (freeze-dried candy favorites)

ENTERTAINMENT:

• LUCKYS CAR SMASH – take a sledge hammer swing at one of two wrecked cars.  One will be painted in U of M colors, one in MSU colors, which one will you choose?!  $5 for 3 swings; proceeds go to our non-profit partner Cascade Community Foundation (ccf.events) 
• PADNOS CAR CUBE – Guess the year, make, model, and weight of the cubed car.  $200 in gift cards to the correct (or closest) guess!
• TWO INFLATABLES – Jungle Bounce House with slide and basketball, and 10′ soccer target game
• KIDS EAT FREE – the first 200 kids get a free lunch at this site, courtesy of Cascade Community Foundation.
• LAWN GAMES for kids and adults – ladder ball, bag toss, Giant Connect 4, Fowling lane
